January 28th– HD-183: Phillips Armstrong, Campaign Announcement

Phillips Armstrong has announced his candidacy to be the next representative of the 183rd Pennsylvania legislative district. Mr. Armstrong is the current president of the Whitehall Township Board of commissioners. He made his announcement Thursday evening at the Tri Boro Sportsman Club in Northampton Borough infront of a crowd of about 100 supporters.

After Ed Hozza, the mayor of Whitehall,  endorsed and introduced the candidate, Mr. Armstrong addressed the crowd and stated “I have always had a lifelong desire to make an impact and a difference in my community, and it’s why I’ve decided to run for State Representative.  Too many in Harrisburg have forgotten about making a difference, and as a result, they’ve failed the people who sent them there in the first place.”  He continued, “In Harrisburg, my first priority will always be to the citizens of my district, not a political ideology. I’ll work with both Democrats and Republicans in order to pass a realistic budget and make the education of our youth a top priority again.”

Mr. Armstrong is a long time resident of Whitehall where he resides with his wife Annette. He recently retired from teaching in the Whitehall-Coplay School District.   Mr. Armstrong received recognition as a highly respected educator.  He was chosen as the Social Studies Dept. Chair at the High School, and the Secondary Education Chairperson for the Middle States Council on Social Studies, while also serving as an adjunct Professor at Lehigh County Community College.

Mr. Armstrong was a successful coach who is in both the Whitehall High School Hall Of Fame, and the Lehigh Valley Sports Hall of fame. He also served as the Student Council Adviser, Mock Trial coach, Ski Club Adviser, and Class adviser for various graduating classes.
