TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – On Monday afternoon, Valley Preferred Cycling Center Executive Director Marty Nothstein announced the opening of team registration for the 17th annual Rodale Corporate Challenge.
Rodale Corporate Challenge is a yearly event that is part of VPCC’s prestigious World Series of Bicycling. The event pits teams of Lehigh Valley businesses against one another in an Italian Pursuit under the bright Friday night lights in T-town. This year’s event is slated for Friday, Aug. 12.
“The Rodale Corporate Challenge is always a great night,” Nothstein said. “It is fun to see these folks train for weeks and see their hard work come to fruition. Additionally, it is one of our largest nights as far as attendance as friends, families, and co-workers want to come out and see what is entertaining racing.”
There are professional races for men and women as well in the evening’s program.
Last year’s event was won by Team Bicycling, who hoisted the Rodale Corporate Challenge trophy on the podium.
Teams are comprised of six members, two of which must be women. All equipment and coaching is provided for every team. The fee for registration is $500 per team.
Practices will be held twice per week for teams starting on July 23. The practices are taught by VPCC’s Interim Community Programs Manager Chris Gill and Sallie Urffer, a USAC official and USAC licensed rider.
