Scranton, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2026) — The Wright Center for Community Health will host a Blakeslee Community Day from 2-5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at the Blakeslee Community Center, 5669 PA-115, offering local residents an opportunity to connect with healthcare providers, explore community resources, and learn about the organization’s plans to bring whole-person primary and preventive health services closer to home for Monroe County communities.
The event comes as The Wright Center prepares to open a new community health clinic at 5251 PA-115 in Blakeslee later this year. Announced in August, the approximately 3,000-square-foot facility will expand access to affordable, comprehensive health services in an area with limited access to care.
Community Day attendees can meet Wadrianne Horne, a certified physician assistant and Monroe County native who will serve as medical director of The Wright Center for Community Health Blakeslee Practice, along with other members of the healthcare team.
The free, family-friendly event will also connect residents with local organizations and resources, including CHOP Out Hunger, and highlight community programs designed to support health and well-being throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.
Activities will include tours aboard Driving Better Health, The Wright Center’s 34-foot mobile medical and dental unit; children’s activities led by Melissa Germano, director of lifestyle modification and preventive medicine; free dental health kits for children and adults; and children’s book giveaways. The public can also enter free raffles for a children’s bicycle and a Jubilee Restaurant gift card. Jubilee Restaurant will provide light refreshments.
Representatives from The Wright Center for Patient & Community Engagement will share information about community events and outreach initiatives that address social drivers of health, including factors beyond medical care that can affect a person’s health and well-being.
When it opens, the Blakeslee clinic will offer checkups, physicals, screenings, and treatment for common illnesses and injuries, as well as addiction and recovery services, including medication-assisted treatment.
The Wright Center for Community Health treats patients from pediatrics to geriatrics, accepts all insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, and offers a sliding-fee scale to ensure everyone can access high-quality, whole-person primary and preventive health services.
Blakeslee Community Day reflects The Wright Center’s commitment to building relationships with residents and community leaders while making healthcare and supportive resources more accessible across the region.
