Lehigh County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event
In an effort to meet the growing disposal needs of our residents while maintaining the quality of life that our residents have come to expect, the County of Lehigh will be sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the County-owned Coca-Cola Park, 1050 Ironpigs Way, Allentown, PA 18109. Participants must use the entrance located just off the American Parkway on Allentown’s east side.
In order to protect tax dollars and ensure Lehigh County residential use only, residents must preregister online at www.lehighcounty.org. Along with verifying residency, Lehigh County residents will be selecting a convenient timeslot to attend. These range from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM and are first come first serve. By going to the County’s website residents will also be given a list of materials that are acceptable to bring in, and what are not acceptable. An example of an acceptable material is oil based paint whereas latex paint is not. The average American has between 3 and 10 pounds of hazardous materials in their home at any given time. Pennsylvanians generate an average of 25,000 tons of Household Hazardous Waste each year!
To address this concern, Lehigh County will be working with MXI Environmental Services, LLC.
