Last week, the Communications & Media Studies class, part of the Literary Arts sophomore curriculum at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) held a press conference to announce band selections for a concert block at Musikfest.

As part of a class project with the ArtsQuest Marketing Musikfest program, students selected artists from hundreds of submissions for a concert block taking place on August 2nd from 12-4 PM at the Plaza Tropical stage.

The students were tasked with booking the artists, handling public relations, marketing, promotions, production, budgeting, sponsorship, and design. The press conference itself was also student-run and included student and faculty speakers as well as ArtsQuest’s Chief Programming Officer, Patrick Brogan.

The bands that the students selected represent a range of music genres, including:

Altruistic Vision — A Delaware County, PA band blending modern jazz and hypnotic funk with improvisational energy.

Pam Brennan Quartet — An Easton, PA jazz quartet performing Great American Songbook classics with warm, swing-era vocals.

Indigo Lane — A Tampa indie rock band delivering melodic, heartfelt, hook-driven songs with DIY spirit.

Fez — A Central Pennsylvania “Scuba-Rock” band mixing ska rhythms, indie rock, and gritty vocals into a genre-bending sound.
