Valley Preferred Cycling Center, Whole Foods partner for grand opening

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – The Valley Preferred Cycling Center operates to promote a healthy lifestyle. It now has a neighbor who is doing the same.

Whole Foods Market Allentown is set to open in the newly built Hamilton Crossings on Sept. 28 and is partnering up with the Valley Preferred Cycling Center and the Lehigh Valley Health Network as Whole Foods prides itself on giving back to the community.

On Oct. 5, five percent of Whole Foods Market Allentown’s sales is to be donated to VPCC to help fund the Gear Up Academy, a second-year program which partners with the Lehigh Valley Health Network, and promotes a healthy lifestyle in inner cities through cycling and training at One City Center.

“We are thrilled to have Whole Foods in the neighborhood and also be partnering with them,” said VPCC Executive Director Marty Nothstein. “Gear Up Academy is a great program that has been in the works for years. We started it last school year and it is amazing to see the impact it has on these kids.”

In addition, the VPCC will be present at the location on Oct. 5 with Nothstein signing autographs, taking photos, and even bagging groceries for some shoppers. Also, Bolt, VPCC’s Bike Safety Mascot, is set to be in attendance as well, interacting with shoppers.

Through its community programs and overall offerings, the VPCC aligns its core values with those of Whole Foods in looking to make an impact in the local community and promote healthy life choices, which makes this a perfect partnership.

The grand opening “Bread Breaking” ceremony will take place at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 28 with the doors opening at 9 a.m. The public is invited to the opening ceremony. The store, which is located at 750 N. Krocks Road, is open 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.
