July 28, 2017 Allentown, PA The Lines and Spaces Summer Camp, which is supported by funding from the Allentown School District Foundation, will culminate its summer experience with a community concert at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, at Sheridan Elementary School, 521 North Second Street, Allentown. The concert is open to the public. It will be followed with a celebration and pizza party for the students.
“The Lines and Spaces Camp provides our elementary instrumental students and their families a chance to stay engaged in the musical process,” says ASD music teacher and program coordinator Larry Flynn. “Our city students need opportunities to explore healthy interests, especially over the summer.”
This year, 27 ASD elementary students will be performing in the Lines and Spaces Concert. The group has been meeting for three hours weekly throughout the summer at Sheridan Elementary School. Also working with Allentown School District instrumental music teacher Larry Flynn are musician instructors Joseph Busolits and William Wagnor.
Flynn is the 2016 Winner of the Allentown Arts Ovation Award for Outstanding Educator in the Arts and serves as the pit director for ASD Foundation’s annual High Notes Gala.
Flynn is instructing two other string groups in Allentown in the evenings this summer. They will have a concert outside the entrance to the Allentown Library on August 9 at 6:30 p.m.
