ALLENTOWN, PA — In response to the Pennsylvania State Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 1307 out of the Senate’s Housing & Urban Affairs Committee, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center released the following statement, which can be attributed to Executive Director, Adrian Shanker:
“In a bipartisan vote, LGBT civil rights in housing and employment were passed out of committee in the Pennsylvania Senate for the first time, in part thanks to the leadership of our local State Senator, Patrick Browne. Today’s vote was important because it demonstrates that LGBT civil rights are neither partisan nor controversial and more importantly, because LGBT people in the Lehigh Valley, outside of the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, don’t currently have any legal recourse if they are discriminated against. All Pennsylvanians benefit from fairness, dignity and equality and we thank those who voted in favor of these principles earlier today.
