BETHLEHEM, PA— As part of the InVision Photography Festival, the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) will host an opening reception on November 1, 2019, from 6-8 PM, in the school’s Corpora Gallery for the “Ilene’s Woods” exhibit, a series of collaborative photographs by Ilene Wood, Thomas Shillea and Ray Starner.
The suite of evocative images explore the immediacy of technology and point of view, and challenge the conventional understanding of what ‘makes a photograph’ and who is ‘the photographer’. An extension of the exhibit will also feature selected photographs from students.
The school’s visual arts department hosts both professional and student exhibits throughout the year. The school has participated in the Banana Factory’s InVision Photography Festival for ten years.
“Photography is one of the most popular classes at Charter Arts. The InVision Festival features a wide range of photographers from all over the country,” says Diane LaBelle, Charter Arts’ Executive Director & CEO. “Being a part of this festival each year introduces our students to the diversity of the artform and provides an opportunity for students to observe and interact with different photographers as well as be a part of a community-wide experience.”
In addition to the opening reception, another public reception will be held during South Bethlehem’s First Friday event on December 6, 2019. Private viewings can also be arranged by appointment through the school’s Director of Visual Arts, Lorie Reinhard, at lreinhard@charterarts.org.
