Seidel Cohen Hof & Reid, a personal injury law firm based in Bethlehem, will host its 2nd annual free car seat safety check event on Sat., Sept. 29.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Target near Airport Road, certified child passenger safety technicians will check car seats are installed properly to ensure young children are transported safely. Attendees of the “Get Them There Safely” event will receive a car safety kit, including a phone charger, window punch, first-aid kit and flashlight, as supplies last.
The event, held in conjunction with Bethlehem Health Bureau, will take place on National Car Seat Check Saturday and is part of Child Passenger Safety Week. Children under the age of 13 are involved in a crash every 33 seconds, according to the National Safety Council. If used correctly, child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent among infants, 54 percent among toddlers and 45 percent among children ages 4 to 8, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
WHAT: On National Car Seat Check Saturday, certified technicians will check car seats — free of charge — for Lehigh Valley residents, ensuring they’re installed properly for parents and caregivers. Participants will receive free car safety kits.
