EASTON, PA – September 26, 2018 – For one weekend in October garlic lovers will stink things up in downtown Easton when Easton Garlic Fest fills the town’s Centre Square with the smells and tastes of all things garlic.
Easton Garlic Fest is a family-friendly, free event to attend. Event hours are Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7 from 10 am – 6 pm both days. It is a rain or shine event. Highlights include:
- More than 60 vendors including merchandise and crafters, prepared foods, packaged foods, garlic vendors, and service providers. See the full vendor list here: http://eastongarlicfest.com/vendors/
- Live cooking demos by local chefs on the Stinkin’ Culinary Stage (both days) and the Hometown Heroes Cook-Off – City of Easton Police vs. City of Easton Fire Dept. vs. Northampton County Sheriffs (Sunday); and the Iron Chef Judged Cook-Off (Sunday).
- Three stages of live music – The School of Rock Stage in the Bank Street Alley; the Pungent Stage on Northampton Street near 2nd St., across from the Pungent Plaza; and the Stinkin’ Beer Stage at S. 3rd & Ferry Streets. For the complete schedule of bands visit: http://eastongarlicfest.com/music/
- Big Stinkin’ Wheel of Cheese Tasting – $12 advance/$15 at the door
– Four seatings of 25 people each, both days
– Seatings at noon, 1, 2 & 3 pm
– Located at South 3rd and Pines Streets
– This tasting starts with a wheel of Reggiano Parmesan cheese which chefs will light on fire and roll pasta and garlic in the melted cheese. Different chefs at each seating will add their own twist to the dish. Cheese wheel and pasta are provided by sponsor Vicidomini USA.
- Gastric Garlic People’s Choice Contest – Advance tickets $10 or $12 at the door
– Noon on Saturday (contest runs until 2:30 pm)
– Located in the Pungent Plaza at Northampton & 2nd Streets
– 400 people will sample and judge the best garlic dish created by chefs from local restaurants. Participants determine which chef will take home the coveted garlic bulb winner’s plaque.
- Dangerous Desserts People’s Choice Contest – $8 in advance or $10 at the door
– Noon on Sunday (contest runs until 2:30 pm)
– Located in the Pungent Plaza at Northampton and 2nd Streets
– Be one of 200 people to sample and judge the best garlic dessert created by chefs from local restaurants. Participants determine which chef creates the best dish.
- Farm-to-Market Mystery Basket Competition – Saturday at 2:30 pm
– Farm-to-Market Stage in front of the Easton Public Market
– Ricky Heinrich, Executive Chef at Pearly Baker’s Alehouse, and four-time winner of this competition, will go up against this year’s EGF Headline Chef Manny Rosales from Mesa Modern Mexican to defend his title.
– Each chef will receive an identical mystery basket chosen by Easton Farmers’ Market Manager Megan McBride, filled with locally sourced food.
– They will have 30 minutes to create a garlicky meal using only those ingredients in this judged competition.
- The Easton Farmers’ Market – (Saturday only) temporarily relocated to Northampton Street in front of the Easton Public Market
- Beer Tent sponsored by The Alfero Company and hosted by 3rd & Ferry Fish Market – featuring a selection of beer and also bloody Mary, mule, punch, and sangria options. Adult festivalgoers can play games like a 3-point basketball challenge, football bowling, quoits, corn hole, and a giant Jenga.
- Little Stinkers Row at N. 3rd & Church Streets – pony rides, moon bounce, karate chopping, and more.
– 11 am – Kids sign up for a chance to participate in the Culinary Kids Cooking Contest, which starts at 1 pm and is sponsored by Unity Bank.
- Scarecrow Making Clinic in Centre Square – Sponsored by the Easton Irregular. All the supplies to create a scarecrow are provided along with directions and you can take the scarecrow home with you. $15 fee.
