Two Trophies to be Awarded on Friday Night

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – Multiple riders will be hoisting some hardware on Friday night during the 9th Annual Mike Walter 100 Lap Madison/U.S. Women’s Open at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.

The feature event of the evening will be the 100 lap madison, honoring the late Mike Walter. Although the anticipated field for the event is full of talent, there should be some new names on the trophy as defending champions Marcel Kalz and Bobby Lea will not be in action.

The Chairman’s Cup will be awarded to the winner of the U.S. Women’s Open, who is the rider that wins the women’s overall omnium. Again, a new name looks to be etched into history as defending champion Missy Erickson is not expected to be in action.

Additionally, the Legends 45+ category will be in action on Friday night.

Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to T-Town to watch the Olympic-caliber action as it is the second Dog Day of Summer at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center this season. Additionally, there will be $1 hotdogs sold all night long at the A-Treat Breakaway Café.

B104 and ESPN Lehigh Valley’s The Happy Hour are set to broadcast live from the plaza pre-race.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale in advance here or can be purchased on event night at the box office. Tickets start as low at $6 with children 12 years old and younger being just $2.
