There will be no trash or recycling in the City of Allentown on Thanksgiving night, Thursday, November 27. Thursday recyclers can place their recycling bins and yard waste out on Friday night, November 28. Next collection will be on Monday night, December 1. Ten bags of trash will be allowed.
The yard waste site at Oxford Drive & Fish Hatchery Road will be open on Monday, November 24 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm for the last regularly scheduled day for the season. The yard waste site is open to city residents only.
The yard waste site will also be open on Saturday, December 6 from 9:00am to 12:00pm when the city will also be accepting electronics items. The yard waste and electronics event is for City of Allentown residents only. Future collection events will be announced at a later date.
The last week of curbside yard waste collection is Thanksgiving week, Sunday, November 23 to Friday, November 28. Place yard waste out on your recycling night. Call the Bureau of Streets at 610-437-7638 for leaf collection information or visit www.allentownpa.gov/Public-Works/Streets/Leaf-Removal-Program .
As of December 1, all residents are urged to bag their leaves in plastic garbage bags for pick-up by the Streets Department. Residents must put their bags at the curb and call the Bureau of Streets at 610-437-7638 or 610-437-7691. Please allow a few days for the pick-up of the bagged leaves. Bags that have a mixture of leaves and garbage will not be picked-up.
