South Bethlehem, Pa – An annual first Saturday in June event was held today at Pierce and 4th St, called the “Great South Side Sale.” A crowd of over 1700 people jammed the one block tent on the South Side today as Lehigh University Faculty, Staff and Students donated items for sale to the community all proceeds were donated to the charity “Children’s Programming in South Bethlehem” a program of the Community Service Office at Lehigh University. It was reported by one of the coordinators of the event that there were over 100 volunteers and a total of over 1,000 hours of time donated to prepare for the event, the items sold are donated by the students and staff from the university. They began collecting the items May 9th. No one left empty handed with all of the bargains that were found. The staff reported this evening that $19,500 was raised.- By Kris Hilliard
