Lehigh County, PA- The County of Lehigh is pleased to announce a $500,000 grant issued by the U.S. Department of the Interior. This grant will be used to partially fund the rehabilitation of the Lock Ridge Furnace located in Alburtis, PA.

This property is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has operated as an Iron Furnace from 1868 to 1921. The Furnace and the surrounding 59 acres were acquired by Lehigh County in 1972, and is managed by the Lehigh County Parks Department.

This grant from the Historic Preservation Fund, as administered by the National Park Service, Department of Interior, will be in addition to the $1,850,000 already committed by Lehigh County. Work will focus on the Cast House roof replacement, water infiltration of the Furnace, and rehabilitation of related buildings.
