La Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s
16 W Broad St, Tamaqua, PA 18252

Tamaqua, Pennsylvania has a hidden gem. It’s busy, BUSY, non-stop. La Dolce Casa- DiMaggio’s is a whole experience.

My friend and I ventured out today in the cold. We stopped at the beautiful Nonna’s Italian Market which was a dream of “Uncle Phil” – just in case you may not be familiar. Nonna Sulina’s Sicilian Kitchen and Grill is temporarily closed. It’s a beautiful ristorante located in Bethlehem.

They had a dream to open a market to bring fresh food from Italy /Sicily to Bethlehem.

I digress, let’s get back to Tamaqua. After venturing out, I was thinking what’s next. I keep seeing the posts on social media about La Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s.

So, I said, let’s go there and check it out. I was told they were not too busy right at the moment. When we arrived, it was freezing and you had two hungry souls. La Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s was busy. Not a few people scrunched in a corner busy. More like if you have ever been to New York and you visit a hot spot in a New York busy.

People were lined up in an outdoor vestibule type tent. They had fire pits (all safely running and being looked after.), and seats for those who needed a seat. We gave a name, and began our wait. At first it was a half hour but, we waited a little longer. It wasn’t too bad, and when you talk to everyone the time just floats by.

The gentleman who was outside taking all the names and getting people who had reservations where they needed to be was incredibly funny, and efficient. The two go well together when you work in the restaurant industry. It lightens people. Once my friend and I were called, we walked inside, and were immediately greeted by decorations, and the hustle of La Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s.

I didn’t know where to look first, every spot in La Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’sis beautifully decorated for the holidays. There was a singer performing songs. She was fun, and covered a vast variety of songs.

Once we were seated, we took everything in. The gentleman that was our server was incredibly efficient, and kind. I’m sure it’s a lot of work working there. People are stunned by the food and the decorations. We ordered food and they have a great menu. There is something for everyone.

It ranges from pasta, steak sandwiches, a soup of the day, salads, pizza, appetizers, and more.

They had Holiday drinks, and a good selection of wine. The desserts looked good too. You can only eat so much though.

The decorations make it more fun. I was able to meet Alfie, and we chatted for a few moments. He’s a beautiful soul. He hugged my friend and I. It was non-stop busy though. There isn’t much time to stop and chat with anyone in Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s.

The food was excellent. You can tell they put love into the food, and feeling the genuineness I felt watching Alfie run around just as much as everyone else. It’s certainly inspiring. I was advised the decorations will remain up until February. The busiest time is dinner time. There was still a line of people when we left.

People were laughing, and having fun talking. It’s a beautiful space. The pasta was excellent.

If you are looking for a good place to go eat, go to Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s. If you love the holidays and decorations, it’s also perfect. It was an experience, an unforgettable one. You sort of walk into some kind of wild wonderland. They did say they hired an outside company to decorate this year. I cannot even imagine how Ling it takes to do all the work. Plus restaurant prep work alone is time consuming.

Dolce Casa – DiMaggio’s is a family place. The environment is great. There is a special ambiance. If you get a chance to visit, please do.
