The contractor at the Eighth Street Bridge rehabilitation project will implement a daytime detour from 9AM to 3PM for deck placements on Tuesday, October 28 for bridge deck placements.
Northbound traffic will be detoured on St. John Street, South Sixth Street, West Wyoming Street, South Fifth Street, Auburn Street, Lehigh Street, Union Street, South Sixth Street and Linden Street. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
A more than $18M project began in May to rehabilitate the Eighth Street/Albertus L. Meyers Bridge that traverses the Little Lehigh Creek, Norfolk Southern Rail Road, Harrison Street, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Fountain Park.
For the duration of the project the southbound travel lane on the bridge is closed and detoured.
Pedestrian access is being maintained with one of the two sidewalks remaining open during construction.
The project is scheduled to be complete in December 2016. All schedules are subject to change.
