Schreiber’s Bridge at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Lehigh Parkway East in the city of Allentown will be closed for approximately five weeks for repairs.
Project crews will remediate the arch ring supports and provide scour protection around the base of the piers. The work will begin on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. The work is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving of this year.
Schreiber’s Bridge and a portion of Lehigh Parkway East extending from MLK, Jr. Drive to Lehigh Parkway North will be closed to traffic while the bridge is being repaired. Motorists are encouraged to use the 15th Street Bridge in lieu of Schreiber’s Bridge for crossing of the Little Lehigh Creek.
The bridge repairs and scour protection will be performed by Grace Industries, Inc. out of Bath, PA. The construction contract amount is $144,375.50. City funds are being used to repair the bridge.
