HISTORIC HOTEL BETHLEHEM PARTNERS WITH COLONY MEADERY FOR FALL MEAD DINNER

BETHLEHEM, PA – October 3, 2014 – Historic Hotel Bethlehem will partner with the Lehigh Valley’s first meadery, Colony Meadery in Allentown, for the hotel’s first Mead Dinner on Wednesday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. in its 1741 on the Terrace restaurant.

Executive Chef Michael Adams and Chef de Cuisine David Troxell have created a menu pairing an autumn four-course dinner with seasonal meads from the Colony Meadery.

· Puree of chestnut soup with maitake mushrooms and white truffle cream

· Liberty Gardens’ Herbalicious greens with local apple and Vermont blue & apple cider vinaigrette

· Roasted duck breast with vanilla bean butternut puree, kohlrabi, crispy lotus root

· Pear butter pain perdu with hazelnut brittle

“As someone who has enjoyed mead for many years, I’m happy for its current resurgence, and am excited to have a meadery in the Lehigh Valley,” said Adams. “Partnering with Colony Meadery has challenged our hotel’s culinary team to create unique pairings with their high-quality mead, and will allow us to expose our guests to this delightful beverage.”

Mead is made from fermenting honey and is one of the oldest beverages in human history. There are different ways of making and flavoring mead, from sweet to bone-dry, and from thick to crisp. The Colony Meadery uses experimental batches, modern methodology, and precise control of fermentation to create meads that are distinct and varied. Co-Founder and CEO, Greg Heller-Labelle, from the Meadery will be there to discuss each mead and its pairing with each course. http://thecolonymeadery.com

“We are thrilled to have our first mead dinner with a chef of Michael Adams’ caliber and reputation” said Heller-Labelle. “As a new entrant to the Lehigh Valley’s craft food and beverage scene, we’re honored to be working with a place as storied and beloved as the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. As someone who grew up in Bethlehem and lives there today, I’m really proud to have our meads at this dinner.”

The Fall Mead Dinner is $65 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Reservations are required and seating is limited. For more information or to make a reservation, please contact the restaurants of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem at (610) 625-2219, restaurants@hotelbethlehem.com.
