Firefighters from across the Lehigh Valley responded to the Lower Macungie Community Center on 6/25/2014. They were not there for a multiple alarm fire, rather for a celebration of multiple months of hard work and dedication they put into earning national accreditation as certified firefighters. Thanks to a partnership between Lower Macungie Fire Department, Bucks County Community College Public Safety Training Center, Allentown Fire Dept. Training Center, Emmaus Training Center, and local fire service instructors. These 2014 graduates are the fourth group of firefighters to attend Fire Academy in the Lehigh Valley thanks to this partnership. Before this, arrangement volunteer firefighters had to travel out of the county to attend fire academy. The reduction in travel time required has made it easier for local fire departments to get new members the important training they need to be valuable assists to their communities. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved for all of the effort put into making the Lehigh County a safer place.
