State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Berks) has recently been appointed to serve on the federal Environment Protection Agency’s (EPA) Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC).
“I am honored to have been selected to serve on this committee,” said Mackenzie. “As a member of the Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, I am well-aware of the many environmental issues facing our state and many others. This opportunity will allow me to work to address these issues on a much larger stage.”
The LGAC provides advice and recommendations that assist the EPA in developing stronger partnerships with local governments through building state and local capacity to deliver environmental services and programs. The ultimate goal of the LGAC is to provide citizens with more efficient and effective environmental protection at the community, state and federal levels.
As a state representative, Mackenzie serves as a member of four House standing committees: Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Environmental Resources and Energy, and Labor and Industry.
Additional responsibilities include serving as vice chairman of the Labor and Industry Committee, and as chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Services and Banking under the Commerce Committee. He also has been appointed to represent the House on the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Board, the Aggregate Advisory Board and the Pennsylvania Economic Development Financing Authority.
Mackenzie’s appointment on the LGAC begins immediately.
