An estimated crowd of 10,000 spectators enjoyed a mix of sun and clouds, floats, bands and marchers during Sunday’s 2019 Allentown Halloween Parade.
The parade, established in 1905 and believed to be one of the oldest in the nation, was full of pumpkins, scarecrows, and the bounty of the harvest with this year’s theme: “Harvest Fest.”
A panel of judges evaluated participants in two categories: Floats and Marchers. Judging criteria included presentation, creativity, enthusiasm, and fitting the theme. Winners receive monetary prizes.
Winners in the Floats category are:
1st Place Kory Rabenold Productions
2nd Place Girl Scout Troop 6169
3rd Place Cub Scout Pack 146
3rd Place Teamsters Local 773
Winners in the Marchers category are:
1st Place Boston Terriers & French Bulldogs of the LV
2nd Place Girl Scout Service Unit
3rd Place Allentown A’s
Parade judges were Board of Recreation members Hugh Gallagher, Hamp Smith and Rebecca Kiss.
Dance and performance groups and marching bands receive a stipend for participating.
