The Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation and coach Brittni Kholi are gearing-up for the tenth Queen of the Court basketball program.
Queen of the Court is a free seven-week basketball fundamentals program offered to girls in fifth through eighth grade that live and attend school in Allentown.
Held at South Mountain Middle School, Queen of the Court is an opportunity to learn the skills of basketball. The practice setting is relaxed and takes place in a fun and friendly environment.
Through basketball, coach Kholi and friends and former teammates teach life skills, confidence, teamwork, and empower the girls through the game of basketball. This program introduces the game of basketball to beginners and help refine the efforts of more skilled players.
Queen of the Court features a wide variety of guest speakers consisting of former high school and college players, coaches and other community members that will make a lasting impact on the girls. Guest speakers make an appearance usually after the first week of practices.
The program is offered free of charge in the South Mountain Middle School gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 8 through November 14 from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. Registration forms will be available at practices. Parents are invited to attend and spectate on the bleachers.
Girls who have participated in Queen of the Court in the past have made significant improvements to their skill set in the sport of basketball as well in the classroom.
South Mountain Middle School is located at 709 W. Emmaus Ave. Allentown, PA 18103. The entrance to the gymnasium is on Church St.
