The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District Welcomes New Board Members

BETHLEHEM, PA – The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District announces the appointment of five new members of its Board of Trustees, as well as the full slate of officers and board members for 2019-2020.

Joining the Board of Trustees are Karley Biggs Sebia, Edward Broczkowski, Todd Chambers, Arif Fazil, and Joel Keeler. “We are pleased to welcome our five new trustees to our leadership team. Each of them bring unique skills, expertise and a passion for the Bethlehem Area School District that will support The Foundation’s growth and mission. We are fortunate to have people who are dedicated to the school district, The Foundation and their community” said Julie Bailey, Executive Director for The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District.

Karley Biggs Sebia is a partner at KingSpry Law Firm concentrating her practice on business and real estate law. She also represents schools and colleges in a variety of legal matters. Karley earned a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Franklin & Marshall College, where she was captain of the Women’s Squash Team. Earlier this year, Karley was named a 2019 Rising Star by Super Lawyer Magazine. Karley is a dedicated citizen offering her time and expertise to several community organizations. She is President of Moravian Academy Alumni Board, serves on the Moravian Academy Board of Trustees and on the Board for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. Karley is the proud daughter/sister of three Liberty High School graduates and, as a future BASD parent, Karley is excited for her oldest child to start kindergarten in the fall of 2020.

Ed Broczkowski is the Associate Vice President of Company Performance Acceleration at Just Born, Inc. With over 25 years of national branded consumer products experience at Just Born, Inc. and Crayola, Ed’s areas of expertise include finance, marketing, international business development, new product development, retail start- up, enterprise system implementation, and strategic planning and execution. Ed earned his A.A. in Business Administration from Northampton Community College, and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and M.B.A from Lehigh University. In addition to The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District, he currently serves on the Advisory Board of Northampton Community College, and as a Board member of the Boys and Girls Club   of Bethlehem and the American Red Cross of Lehigh Valley and Bucks Region. Ed graduated from Liberty high school, and he is very #BASDproud of his son and daughter who are graduates of Freedom high school.

Todd Chambers is a partner at MKSD Architects. Todd’s passion for architecture and leadership skills developed at an early age. At age 12, he organized the neighborhood kids to create a four-level tree house in the woods built completely from recycled materials. Todd’s technological savvy skills have put MKSD at the forefront of business advancement. Todd is a Pennsylvania and New Jersey registered architect, practicing architecture since 1997. Todd has a broad base of experience in both public and private independent school projects, as well as significant experience in retail, commercial, and medical facilities. Todd is dedicated to giving back to his community. In addition to serving as a trustee for The Foundation for the BASD, Todd is Vice Chair of ArtsQuest Visual Arts Board, President of Northeast Little League and Soccer Coach for Bethlehem Township Athletic Association. Todd is the proud parent of three BASD students; two attend East Hills Middle School and one attends Spring Garden Elementary School.

Arif Fazil is President of D’Huy Engineering Inc. (DEI) which has been headquartered in historic Downtown Bethlehem for more than 40 years. Mr. Fazil is a licensed professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in project management, quality control, preparation and implementation of capital plans, budgeting, value engineering, project approvals and grant composition for numerous public and private projects in Northeastern PA. Under Mr. Fazil’s leadership, DEI has served as Bethlehem Area School District’s facilities engineer and project manager for all construction projects for over 30 years. Mr. Fazil is a member of the Northampton Community College Foundation and serves on the Board of Directors for Lehigh Valley Industrial Park. His other professional affiliations include American Society of Civil Engineers, International Code Council, Council of Educational Facilities Planners International, Construction Specifications Institute and Association of Energy Engineers. A resident of Bethlehem, Arif’s one daughter is a current student at Freedom High School while his other is a proud graduate.

Joel Keeler is the Creative Director for WFMZ-TV/MBC Teleproductions. Joel is a Lehigh Valley native with a passion for media production and a sharp attention to detail. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television/Radio from Ithaca College’s esteemed Roy H. Park School of Communication. Joel has worked for WFMZ since 2005 and has served as producer, director, editor and production manager for the company. He has received several acknowledgements during his tenure with WFMZ, including a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for his work on the 2011 Freddy Awards. In addition to the Freddy Awards, Joel produces the St. Luke’s All-Star Awards, both honoring area high school students. As a proud Liberty High School graduate, Joel is excited for his daughter to start kindergarten this year at Hanover Elementary School.

Created to strengthen, enhance and enrich the educational experiences of the students of the Bethlehem Area School District, The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District was established in 1999. It is governed   by a volunteer board of trustees, composed of business and community leaders who lend expertise to the operations of the organization. The Foundation’s mission is to enhance learning opportunities for all students of the Bethlehem Area School District, promote family and community partnerships, and support academic innovation. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, The Foundation raises funds through tax-deductible contributions to promote innovative educational programs that enhance the existing curriculum of Bethlehem Area School District.
