LEHIGH COUNTY COURT-APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES, Allentown is seeking dedicated volunteers to be court appointed advocates for children in foster care due to abuse, neglect and/or trauma. These volunteers will be the “eyes and ears” of the Judge and advocate for the best interests of the child in court, visit the child at home/placement, monitor how the child is doing in school, observe parental visitations, and be in regular contact with the child. LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK, MARATHON FOR VIA, Lehigh Valley is seeking volunteers for their annual marathon on Saturday, 9/7 (9am-5pm) and Sunday, 9/8 (5:30am-1:30pm). The Marathon starts in Allentown, goes through Bethlehem, and ends in Easton. Volunteers help with registration, pack pick-up, hand out water to runners, and course marshal spots (cheering on runners) along the route. Shift times vary depending on day/location. SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK, Allentown needs ten volunteers for their Great Allentown Fair’s “Buck and a Can Night” on Tuesday, 8/27 – 2 shifts (4-6:30pm and 6:30-9pm); 2 volunteers per gate for a total of 5 gates. First shift should report at Main Gate between 3:30-3:45 to check in; 2nd shift report to assigned gates. STRIVE YOUTH, Bethlehem needs dedicated coaches to help 8-12th grade students for STRIVE’s STEM Leadership Program. Help students to set goals for the future and to measure their progress towards achieving these goals. Each coach will be paired with 1-3 students.
