Pennsylvania DeMolay has three new State Officers from Allentown Chapter for the 2019-2029 DeMolay year following the organization’s annual state convention held at the Double Tree Hotel in Cranberry Township, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, this weekend.

Delegates to the convention elected Ethan Flanagan, a 2019 Emmaus High School graduate who will be attending Kutztown University in the fall, as the State Senior Councilor, the second highest office in the state organization, during its annual Business Meeting on Saturday.

The new State Master Councilor, the presiding officer of the state group, appointed Miles Green, a rising senior at Emmaus High School, as his Regional Representative for Region G, which includes Allentown and Reading, and Jonathan Rhoads, also a rising junior at Emmaus, as State Chaplain, following his installation on Sunday.

Flanagan and Green are both past presiding officers of Allentown Chapter and past appointed State Officers. Rhoads is a current Officer of Allentown Chapter; this is his first state office.

All three young men are very active in both Allentown Chapter and Pennsylvania DeMolay.

In addition to the new youth officers from Allentown, the new Executive Officer of Pennsylvania DeMolay announced Edward John White of Allentown Chapter as his new Deputy Executive Officer for Region F, which includes Chapters in Scranton and Willow-Barre.

White currently serves as Chairman of Allentown Chapter’s Advisory Council as was most recently the Executive Officer’s Regional Representative for Region F. He is a Senior DeMolay and Past Master Councilor of Allentown Chapter, a Past Elected State Officer of Pennsylvania DeMolay, a Master Mason, and the Masonic Youth Representative to the Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation for Jordan-Martin Lodge No. 673 in Allentown.

DeMolay International was founded in 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1922 in Pennsylvania and in 1926 in Allentown by local Masons who wanted to help boys in their local communities.

The organization is a character and leadership development organization based on seven basic principles which are demonstrated by the members in monthly meetings and other ceremonies.

All DeMolay Chapters are run by the young men and supervised by an Advisory Council of  adults who have completed leadership and youth protection training.

The Allentown Chapter, which meets in the Allentown Masonic Temple located on Linden Street across from Allentown’s West Park, was named the Most Outstanding Chapter in the state for the second year in a row on Saturday after a year-long competition.

It is sponsored by Allen-Beauceant Commandery No. 20 of the Knights Templar, a Christian Masonic group, but membership in DeMolay is open to any young man of good moral character between the ages of 12 and 21 who believes in a supreme being and who is also recommended by two members and a Master Mason.

The Allentown Chapter will be holding its semi-annual Open Installation of Officers on Sunday, July 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lehigh Lodge located at 2120 Route 100 in Macungie. The public is invited to attend.
