More than 30 concerts are scheduled for the Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation’s 2019 Summer Concert Series. The Macungie Band opens the season on Friday, May 24 at 7:30PM at historic West Park.
The series runs in various city parks. Thousands of city residents and visitors enjoy these concerts from May to September. Many of the concerts are held at West Park.
The lineup includes the Allentown Band, Dave Neith Orchestra, LV Italian Band, Marine Band, Municipal Band, Pioneer Band, The Sweet Adelines and the Royalaires.
There are satellite concerts scheduled at AHEPPA, East Side Youth Center, Midway Manor and Phoebe Allentown. A few themed concerts on the docket, including a children’s concert, Christmas concert, flag day, great American composers, pops concert, Ray Becker, salute to Bert Meyers, senior specials, summer’s ending and a vocals concert.
All concerts are free and may have refreshments available for sale. Spectators can bring a lawn chair or blanket to come relax and enjoy the entertainment.
New for the 2019 season, any concerts that are called for rain will be moved inside and hosted at LV Active Life at 1633 Elm Street.
