LEARNING TO SWIM: A VITAL LIFE SKILL

Did you know that according to Center for Disease Control statistics, participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent? Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for those 1-14 years of age. Learning to swim is a vital life skill to keep individuals safe around all bodies of water.

The Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation encourages you to register for swimming lessons today.

The department offers a Learn to Swim program for youth ages 3 through 13. Our thirty (30) minute classes run daily Monday through Thursday for two (2) week sessions beginning June 17 through August 22 at Mack Pool.  Resident Registration is $50.00 per child. Non-Resident Registration is $100.00 per child. Proof of Residency is required in the form of a driver’s license, photo ID or school-issued ID to receive resident rates.
