Community Invited to Help the Nonprofit Enrich the Lehigh Valley Through the Arts!
BETHLEHEM, PA—Amidst the frenzy of holiday parties, food and shopping, the nonprofit ArtsQuest invites you to celebrate the true spirit of the season with #GivingTuesday, the global giving movement through which millions of people come together to support charitable causes in which they believe strongly. Visit www.artsquest.org/givingtuesday to donate on #GivingTuesday Nov. 27.
Through year-round donations in 2017 from ArtsQuest Members and the community, ArtsQuest:
- Presented more than 1,200 performances, 80 percent of which were free
- Provided educational experiences for a record 5,517 students
- Supported 225 small business owners as vendors and artisans at festivals
- Inspired 1.8 million people to visit Bethlehem
- Had an economic impact of $145 million on our region
“There are so many big problems in the world and many of them require big, overwhelming solutions, but this one is simple,” says ArtsQuest Membership Manager Michelle Veresink Richmond. “Donate $1 for every year that you and your spouse have laughed together at a homegrown music festival on a hot summer night. Donate $10 for your father who loved to paint when he was alive. Donate $25 because you have lived to see Bethlehem Steel rise, fall and be reborn again.
“Giving Tuesday is your opportunity to make an impact and support the arts. You can help your local community in such a big way, no matter the size or amount of your gift. You can make a difference; you just have to give.”
As part of #GivingTuesday, ArtsQuest aims to raise $5,000 in charitable donations to support its programming for the region including local children enrolled in the Banana Factory ArtSmart after-school enrichment program; Marketing Musikfest in which local high school students learn how to book and promote concerts, and the ArtsQuest Scholarship Fund, which provides free classes to children and families living in our community.
Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y, a community and cultural center in New York City, #GivingTuesday has inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in, raising more than $300 million online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations.
