Allentown School District Partners with Community Agencies to Host Family Engagement Summit



 

 

Allentown, PA (October 15, 2018) – On Saturday, October 20, 2018  the Allentown School District will partner with three community agencies to launch the Allentown Parent Network and host a Family Engagement Summit. Through the assistance of CASA Guadalupe Center, Promise Neighborhoods and Upside Allentown, a dynamic panel of speakers and workshops have been organized present on a variety of topics that support parents and families.  The event which will take place at the Renaissance Hotel from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

The Family Engagement Summit will have workshops and funshops that support parents with school-aged children. National recognized specialist in family engagement include: Diana Gonzales Worthen, PhD, Co-founder & Director of OneCommunity, ArkanSalsaFest and Al Lopez, School Community Liaison for the Springdale School District in Arkansas.

Senator Patrick Browne is scheduled to attend. Childcare will be provided for free for children 5 years of age and older. Bus transportation will be provided from ASD schools to bring families to the Renaissance including stops at:

  • Bus #1: Departs Union Terrace Elementary at 7:30 am / Departs Trexler Middle School at 8:00 AM. Arrive at Renaissance at 8:30 AM
  • Bus #2: Departs South Mountain Middle School at 7:30 AM / Departs Dieruff High School at 8:00 AM. Arrive at Renaissance at 8:30 AM
  • Bus #1 & #2 will depart from the Renaissance at 1:00 PM and drop off at the above schools.
