BETHLEHEM, PA— Calling all brat lovers! In a challenge of human vs. meat, the strong-willed and strong-stomached will battle it out to see who the champions of The Karl Ehmer Bratwurst Eating Competitions will be at the 8th Annual Oktoberfest at SteelStacks, Oct. 6 & 13, 6:30 p.m.
While the world record of 70 brats in just 10 minutes was set by the legendary Joey Chestnut in 2013, contestants in The Karl Ehmer Bratwurst Eating Competitions face a smaller feat. The first contestant to finish 15 Karl Ehmer brats in each competition will be crowned the winner and receive a $250 cash prize. Brats will be served bun-less and contestants will be given water to help wash the brats down.
Those interested in competing must contact ArtsQuest Cinema & Comedy Programming Assistant Rickey Negron at rnegron@artsquest.org to apply. There is no cost to participate and registration will close two days prior to each competition.
Now in its eighth year, Oktoberfest presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is a free festival that features German food, beer and live music, as well as attractions like the exciting Beer-Lympics competition, popular dachshund races, Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k, local artisans and more! Festival dates are Oct. 5–7 & 12-14. Hours are Fridays, 5-10 p.m.; Saturdays, noon-10 p.m.; and Sundays, noon-6 p.m.
