In Lehigh Valley’s first .1K running is not allowed, and participants can buy first place
BETHLEHEM, PA—On your mark! Get set! No running! Join ArtsQuest as it hosts the inaugural SteelStacks Fun Un-Run Sept. 8, 5-7 p.m. For those who hate running, but love drinking in athletic wear, the Un-Run is a .1K race that takes participants on a 100-yard course from the Air Products Town Square to the corner of First Street and Founders Way. Registration is limited to 100 people who are looking to do something objectively silly.
The event, supported by Media Partner 100.7 WLEV, features a pre-game party with live music by rock bang Zaire, food specials, guided pre-race “stretching,” course marshals and a “hydration station” just like a real race but without any of the pretense or frills of an actual athletic event.
Registration is $15 and includes one Yuengling beer at the completion of the race and one official SteelStacks Fun Un-Run sticker. Want to take home the gold? For $100, the Fun Un-Run’s “You Can Pay Us to Win a Trophy” level registration includes one trophy commemorating triumphant “victory.”
Following the race and race after party at 7:30 p.m., participants are invited to attend the free Start Making Sense: Talking Heads Tribute concert at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, presented by Coordinated Health.
Proceeds from the SteelStacks Fun Un-Run support ArtsQuest’s art and education programs for area students. For registration and more information, visit www.steelstacks.org.
