On Tuesday August 7, 2018, neighborhoods throughout Allentown, PA, are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “35th Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out (NNO), which is sponsored by the National Associate of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by Pennrose Management Company/Overlook Park, will join over 1,500 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases against crime.

NNO is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday August 7^th, 2018, residents in neighborhoods throughout Allentown, PA, and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.

This year, we have an incredible lineup of organizations that are truly dedicated towards the reduction of crime.

VAST (Valley Against Sex Trafficking) will speak and provide information on the current rate of sex trafficking in the valley.

Community Partners 4 Kids is providing free Fingerprint IDs to every child attending the event, our APD is facilitating the kid’s obstacle course competitive games and the Army National Guard is providing the Rock Climbing wall for kids of all ages. Also, ReciproCity will be giving away free school backpacks filled with school supplies.

The Allentown Citywide Initiative For Youth, a local nonprofit initiative started in December to bring all Allentown youth together for an annual youth expo, bring speaking events into local schools and youth organizations and offer long-term mentoring for youth from kindergarten through high school, has been invited to take part in this event.
