Allentown, Aug. 2 – Three nationally-acclaimed authors from the New York metro area will share stories and lunch with Lehigh Valley book lovers October 6th at the 2017 Luncheon With the Authors, the annual fundraiser sponsored by the Society of the Arts (SOTA) of the Allentown Art Museum. Luncheon With the Authors admission ranges from $75 to $350 and can be purchased at sotapa.org.
SOTA’s fundraising benefits educational programs at the Allentown Art Museum, the SOTA Print Fund and the SOTA Education Endowment.
This year’s luncheon will be held at Brookside Country Club in Macungie and will be hosted by Mistress of Ceremonies, Ashley Russo, two-time Emmy® award-winning executive producer and host of The PEAK TV.
Bethlehem-based author Karen Katchur’s mystery, The Sisters of Blue Mountain, takes place in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. For Linnett, the main character and owner of a bed and breakfast, life has become complicated of late. A disruption to the peace and quiet of the beautiful area threatens her business, creates a media frenzy, and begins to unearth family secrets that, long buried, resurge between Linnett and her estranged sister.
Hala Alyan’s Salt Houses explores the everyday life of an educated Palestinian family against a backdrop of politics—sometimes forgotten, sometimes impossible to forget. We travel with Alia and four generations of her family, uprooted by conflict in the Middle East, as they scatter to Lebanon, Paris, and Boston to determine where and what home is.
Elisabeth Egan, in A Window Opens, introduces us to Alice Pearse, a bright, compulsively honest, utterly charming, longing-to-have-it-all heroine for our modern times. When her husband makes a radical career and identity shift, Alice seeks a full-time position—even a dream job—that will enable her to bring the joy of reading to others.
Luncheon With the Authors admission can be purchased at sotapa.org. All three books are on sale at the Moravian Book Shop in Bethlehem.
