Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Berks) this week received notice of two leadership positions he has been appointed to on House standing committees for the 2017-18 legislative session by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny).
“As someone who prioritizes job creation and business development when it comes to my legislative agenda, I am honored to be appointed to these positions,” said Mackenzie. “I look forward to working with the chairmen of the two committees to help advance pro-worker and pro-business legislation.”
The first appointment is to the position of vice chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee. Mackenzie is a long-standing member of the committee and served as vice chairman of the committee last session.
“Representative Mackenzie is an active member on the committee and brings with him a great knowledge of the issues impacting jobs and businesses in the Commonwealth, given his previous position as director of policy with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry,” said Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin), chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee. “I look forward to his input and leadership within the committee as we move through the legislative session.”
Mackenzie has also been appointed to serve as chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Services and Banking under the House Commerce Committee. The committee is responsible for originating legislation and overseeing implementation of programs which affect Pennsylvania companies.
“Representative Mackenzie is a great asset to the Commerce Committee, as he is well versed and engaged with the issues,” said House Commerce Committee Chairman Brian Ellis (R-Butler). “As chairman of the Financial Services and Banking Subcommittee, he will have an opportunity to lead important policy discussions that impact Pennsylvania residents, businesses and the overall economy.”
