After the events of last week in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota, the City of Allentown is coming together to support our police and stand-up for communities of color.
An Interfaith & Multicultural Rally will be held outside Allentown City Hall at 6 o’clock tonight.
Mayor Ed Pawlowski has called community leaders together asking that they join in being a visible force in our community for non-violence.
Speakers include:
Mayor Ed Pawlowski
Chief Keith Morris, Allentown Police Department
Rev. Charles Olmeda, Pastor Third Day Church
Rev. Dr. Larry Pickens, the Lehigh Conference of Churches
Shirl Comick, Allentown NAACP
David Jones, Lehigh County Commissioner
Flor Velez, Puertorrican Culture Preservation Organization
Naji Latefa, Muslim community
Tyrone Russell, Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley
David King, One Love Allentown
Cantor Kevin Wartell, Temple Beth-El
“We are constantly working to bring unity to our city,” said Pawlowski. “It is important that we show that despite tragic deaths in other areas of our country, we in Allentown cannot and will not be pulled apart.”
