Rally for Gun Safety NOW!
Allentown, PA (July 5,2016)—CeaseFirePA, Lehigh Valley Friends of CeaseFirePA, and Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center are joining forces to call for commonsense reforms to reduce gun violence in our communities and to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, domestic abusers, people with serious mental illness, and suspected terrorists.
WHAT: Public rally to call on our legislators to finally stop sales of firearms to terrorists, and to close loopholes that permit legal private sales of firearms without a background check.
WHEN: Thursday, July 7, 6:00 pm
WHERE: Allentown City Hall, 435 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18101
A statement issued by Shira Goodman, Executive Director of CeaseFirePA, and Fritz Walker, President of Lehigh Valley Friends of CeaseFirePA, said, “Following America’s worst mass shooting ever, the time is now to raise our voices, and let Congress know it’s time to stop kowtowing to the gun lobby, and pass legislation to protect the American people.”
“Violence against the LGBT community is a serious issue, with the massacre at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando as but one example,” added Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. “Our communities deserve to be free from violence, including violence inflicted by guns.”
