Mayor Matthew Tuerk Participates in Celebration

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2026) – Reaching the age of 100 is a remarkable achievement, one that marks over a century of memories, experiences, wisdom and accomplishments. In conjunction with National Centenarian’s Day – observed annually in late September – Riverton Enhanced Senior Living in Allentown recently celebrated three residents who have reached the age of 100 or older.

Allentown Mayor Matthew Tuerk joined the festivities at the senior living community, which included a toast and reception in recognition of Bill Gaidula (103), Hazel Edelman (100) and Marguerite Young (100). Each received a certificate of recognition and shared memories of their younger years, while reflecting on the history and events that shaped their lives.

“What makes Bill, Hazel and Marguerite so special is the lives they have built and the countless experiences they have gathered over the course of a century,” said Tori Danner, life enrichment director at Riverton Enhanced Senior Living. “There is so much we can learn from people who have actually lived through history. We were honored to celebrate with them and have Mayor Tuerk recognize these extraordinary individuals.”

Residents at Riverton Enhanced Senior Living enjoy an active, worry-free lifestyle in a warm, welcoming environment that includes beautifully appointed apartments, gourmet dining and an engaging mix of programming and activities. They also have access to the services they need, when they need them – including rehab care at Riverton Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.
