Allentown School District announces the following events will take place between in our schools between May 9-20. As always, below are some highlights to consider for next week:
ASD Kindergarten Registration:
- May 9: Hiram W. Dodd Elementary School, 1944 South Church Street – 484-765-4500
- May 10: Sheridan Elementary School, 521 North 2nd Street – 484-765-4880
- May 11: Lincoln Early Childhood Center, 1402 Walnut Street – 484-765-5440
- May 12: Roosevelt Elementary School, 210 West Susquehanna Street – 484-765-4461
- May 13: Ritter Elementary School, 790 North Plymouth Street – 484-765-5660
- May 16: Central Elementary School, , 829 W. Turner Street – 484-765-4800
- Raub Middle School: May 10; 6:30 p.m.: Raub Middle School Spring Band Concert
- Dieruff High School: May 10; 7:00 p.m.: Dieruff High School Spring Band/Choir Concert, admissions is $5 adults/$3 students.
- South Mountain Middle School: May 11; 5:30 p.m.: South Mountain Middle School Spring Band/Chorus Concert. Cost $1/ person.
- ASD 3rd Annual Elementary Instrumental Concertand 1st Annual Jump Rope Tournament; May 11: 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.; at the PPL Plaza – rescheduled from May 4 due to inclement weather. Jump Rope Tournament will feature the top 3 jump rope students from each ASD elementary school and is sponsored by the American Heart Association. Winner of the jump rope tournament will receive a scooter.
- ASD Elementary Student Art Exhibit Reception at Civic Theater Studio 514; May 11: 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.;. The Reception celebrates the young artist of the Allentown School District. Artwork from every elementary school is on display. Music will be provided by ASD Elementary Instrumental Students. Refreshments will be served. Event is Free and open to the public. Exhibit is on display through May 31.
- Social Emotional Learning/Restorative Practices Workshop (Parent University): May 11: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.: in the South Mountain Middle School Cafeteria located at 709 W. Emaus Avenue. Attendees will gain an understanding of the fundamental premise of Restorative Practices which is that people are happier, more cooperative, more productive, and more likely to make positive changes when those in authority do things with them, rather than to them or for them. This workshop is FREE and open to all ASD parents/guardians.
- Raub Middle School; May 12; 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.: Speaker Assembly featuring Steve Grant from Indianapolis Colts.
- Trexler Middle School: May 12; 5:30 p.m.: Trexler Middle School Spring Band/Chorus/Orchestra Concert
- ArtsWalk ASD Student Exhibit and Reception; May 13: 4:00 p.m.; an Exhibit of student artwork from William Allen and Dieruff High Schools; Harrison-Morton, Raub, Trexler and South Mountain Middle Schools; and Dodd, Lehigh Parkway, McKinley, Mosser, Ramos, Union Terrace and Washington Elementary Schools will be showcased along the ArtsWalk in the Boutique Stores – Sage, Aquarius and 7th and Sole. The Reception is FREE and open to the public. The Exhibit runs May 13 – 27 and can be viewed during store hours.
- South Mountain Middle School: May 13 at 5:30 p.m., May 14 at 7:00 p.m. and May 15 at 2:00 p.m. South Mountain Middle School presents Godspell, Jr. in the Auditorium, 709 W. Emaus Avenue. Admission is $3 students/$5 adults.
- Dieruff High School: May 14; 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Dieruff Jazz Band Percussion Ensemble Performance at Barnes & Noble, Lehigh Valley Mall.
- Harrison-Morton Middle School; May 17; 7:00 p.m.: Spring Band/Chorus Concert, $2 admission.
- Jefferson Elementary School; May 17; 7:00 p.m.: Elementary Instrumental Music Concert at Mosser Elementary located at 129 S. Dauphin Street.
- Raub Middle School: May 20 and 21 at 7:00 p.m. and May 22 at 2:00 p.m. Raub Middle School presents Annie, Jr. in the Auditorium located at 102 S. St. Cloud Street. Admission is $5 per person.
