Spring is in the air and so is the music at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts!

BETHLEHEM, PA (April 2, 2025)— The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) will hold twelve spring music events that are sure to impress audiences! This series of concerts and performances kicks off next week with three events that highlight the talent and dedication of the school’s music students and faculty.

“Evening with Strings” on April 7 at 7 PM is led by Rachel Hart, the music department’s string specialist. This elegant evening will showcase solo and ensemble performances that include repertoire by Holst, Dvorak, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky.

The “Brass & Woodwinds Recital” on April 8 at 7 PM is directed by Thomas Maher and Dr. Aaron Patterson, the school’s brass and woodwind specialists. This recital will feature students of all grade levels performing unaccompanied and accompanied solo repertoire. Another highlight includes a performance by the Charter Arts Woodwind Ensemble, joined by students of the department’s percussion studio.

The exciting week of performances culminates with an “Evening with Guitar”, directed by guitar specialist, Joe Bucci. Students will showcase a wide range of works from classical to contemporary. Bucci is proud to share that the guitar studio continues to attract students who want to be challenged with rigorous instruction that emphasizes both performance and practice.

The remainder of the music department’s spring season includes student showcases as well as events, through May, that include:  Night of Percussion, Chamber Ensembles Concert, Spring Choral Concert, Spring Instrumental Concert, Piano Recital, and Jazz Cafe.  View showtimes and ticket information at CharterArts.org.

ABOUT THE CHARTER ARTS MUSIC DEPARTMENT::

The Charter Arts Music Department offers a rigorous music education taught by award-winning and accomplished faculty that develops students into well-rounded and professional musicians and vocalists.

The instrumental music curriculum includes classes in classical, jazz, and contemporary music styles while performing in large ensembles that include Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Latin Music Ensemble, Wind Ensemble and Contemporary Music Ensemble as well as small ensembles that include strings, guitar and percussion.  Students enjoy individual and small setting technique classes with a music faculty member who specializes in their instrument. These specialists include bass (electric and upright), brass, guitar, percussion, piano, strings, and woodwinds.

The vocal music curriculum includes tracks in classical art song, musical theatre, and pop/contemporary that allow students to focus and hone their skills with one-on-one instruction by professional voice specialists.  In addition, the Singer/Songwriter track includes Songwriting, Music Production and Contemporary Music Performance Practices.
