ZZ Top and Foghat Rocked Musikfest on the Last Night.
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, how are we doing after the fest? It was a little sad pulling into the lot today knowing it’s the last day… until NEXT YEAR! I made my way to the Media Center to say hello, and thank you for everything they have done for all of us. I ran into some friends, chatted briefly, and then was in search of an amazing band that I discovered was on the North side of Musikfest so, I would not have made it to and from in time to get back for the ZZ Top concert. I walked around, talked to more people, met a few dogs, (Thought of my friend Paula, and my own doggie, Bella.) and then headed inside Musikfest Café to see who was playing upstairs.
Musikfest has an app, plenty of information to get you where you need to be. Today, I just wanted to wander around. I wanted to take in the last day and just smile. My friend’s son is a volunteer firefighter for the Whitehall Fire Company, he made it to the Black Eyed Peas show. Please also support and give the firemen all the respect they deserve.
After wandering around, and talking to friends, and people. Passing by Bourbon Street Eats, one more time to hear the enthusiastic shout out! I ran into my friend MaryLou who is an amazing soul, and volunteers at Musikfest. All of the Musikfest staff, volunteers, Bethlehem Police, and the K9 Officers, EMT’s, firemen, and every single person involved in Musikfest. They deserve a lot. They deserve all the kudos, and love you can give out.
I made my way to the Wind Creek Steel Stage for the last night for ZZ Top with special guests Foghat. My friend Jeanne joined me. We were both excited, and the weather was beautiful. Mother Nature decided it was enough rain… for now. The energy was high, people were excited. It’s a Sunday. Let’s talk music… Foghat celebrates fifty-four years making music. That’s over five decades of making music, touring, and being Foghat. They talked about their Sonic Mojo Tour. Roger Earl, Bryan Bassett, Scott Holt, Rodney O’Quinn took the stage and performed some newer songs, and of course the classic, “Slow Ride.” Foghat also performed: “It Hurts Me Too,” “Fool for the City,” “Drivin’ Wheel,” and more. They put on such a great show, and our section was so lively, and having so much fun. They did covers from Willie Dixon, and Robert Johnson, and Wild Cherry.
The crowd was excited, people were chatting about life and music. They were excited for the fireworks after the show which you could now see as soon as you walked out of the Wind Creek Steel Stage area.
ZZ Top took the stage fairly early; they were indeed on time. They performed some of the classic songs including: “Pearl Necklace,” “My Head’s in Mississippi,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Got Me Under Pressure.” ZZ Top was formed in 1969. Vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard, and guitarist Elwood Francis rocked Musikfest. They had incredible outfits, a fuzzy guitar, bright red shoes, and beautiful instruments to play all of the classic music. They kept the crowd rocking, and people were excited to hear songs that they love. It was a beautiful day, and an excellent night. Most people stopped and watched the fireworks from various parts of the South side of Musikfest. It was beyond awesome. So many talented artists, so many talented people. It was so much fun, and thank you to everyone at ArtsQuest, SteelStacks, Wind Creek, and Musikfest for helping all of us out, and for doing this festival. There is only one Musikfest, and nothing ever comes close. We are looking forward to more music next year.
