HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON Takes Over the Family Attraction; Guest Appearances by Roy, Crayola Experience’s NEW Purple Mascot

EASTON, Pa. (Aug. 4, 2024) – This summer, anything is possible… if you draw it! And that’s what kids are doing during Purple Party Weekend at Crayola Experience Easton as they celebrate creativity and Harold and The Purple Crayon.

The colorful collaboration with Sony Pictures and Crayola Experience—which continues today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.—is inspiring imaginations across all ages, just like Harold does with his magical crayon in the film. With the upcoming film release, families have the perfect place to channel Harold and immerse themselves in creative, interactive play.

A highlight of the day for kids was meeting the newest member of the Crayola Experience family—purple mascot Roy. Roy will make special appearances again today at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

Families also are putting their imagination into action with creative activities including:

  • Adding their own purple creation of rockets, hot air balloons and airplanes to our movie-themed wall mural.
  • Engaging with themed coloring pages, thinking sheets, and crafts inspired by the movie.
  • Personalizing their own purple crayon at the Wrap It Up attraction.

In addition, the first 75 children who visited the family attraction each day received a copy of the book donated by HarperCollins.

All activities are included in the price of admission.

About Harold and the Purple Crayon

Harold and the Purple Crayon opens in theaters Aug. 2. Inside of his book, adventurous Harold (Zachary Levi) can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life—and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hilarious hijinks than he thought possible. When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own. Harold and the Purple Crayon is the first film adaptation of the beloved children’s classic that has captivated young readers for decades.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha and produced by John Davis, the live-action hybrid family adventure/comedy stars Zachary Levi, Lil Rel Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Jemaine Clement, Tanya Reynolds with Alfred Molina and Zooey Deschanel. The film’s screenplay is written by David Guion & Michael Handelman, based on the book by Crockett Johnson.
