Wildlands Conservancy – Community and Education Events for August 2024



This coming month, Wildlands offers 10 exciting Community and Education Events:

    • free “Get Out! For Wellness” hiking adventures on historical nature trails,
    • an afternoon celebrating National Honeybee Event! at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus (nominal fee),
    • free Pre-K Pathfinder offerings,
    • free single-Day Explorer Camp offerings for kids, and
    • free opportunities to explore Minsi Lake via canoes (all equipment provided).

Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Locust Lake State Park – 1:00PM – 3:00PM EDT at Locust Lake State Park, 220 Locust Lake Road, Barnesville PA 18214. Join us as we hike around the lake and take the pleasant Oak Leaf Trail up about 500 feet in elevation gain through deciduous forest and beside Locust Creek. Questions? For Students who just completed grades Kindergarten -5th. Wildlands Conservancy – PreK Pathfinders: Forensics, TNP – 10:00AM – 11:00AM EDT at Trexler Nature Preserve, Environmental Education Center, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville, PA 18078. PreK Pathfinders is for children aged 3-5 and their grown-ups. Let’s solve a mystery! Wildlands Conservancy – National Honeybee Day – 2:00PM – 3:30PM EDT at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, PA 18049. Join us for National Honeybee Day! We’ll celebrate all things pollinators by having a honey extraction demonstration for our hive. Then we’ll net our meadow to observe the insects that call this preserve home. Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Sawmill Run Trail – 1:00PM – 3:00PM EDT at Beltzville State Park, 706 Old Mill Road, Lehighton, PA 18235. Join us on this hike through a lesser-known area of the park, exploring a variety of habitats, past a 18th Century slate quarry, a stone mill race, and other historical edifices. Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Jacobsburg State Park – 10:00AM – 12:00PM EDT at Jacobsburg State Park, 400 Belfast Rd, Nazareth, PA 18064. Join us hiking a few miles of trails at Jacobsburg’s 1,168-acre state park. We’ll take level trails along Sober’s Run, which flows into Bushkill Creek, and can explore Sober’s Run Loop Trail.
