- This coming month, Wildlands offers 11 exciting Community and Education Events:
- 4 free “Get Out! For Wellness” hiking adventures,
- 2 free Pre-K Pathfinder offerings,
- A party with the frogs, a mushroom foray, and Mother’s Day weekend with our animal ambassadors,
- our first-of-the-season Bike & Boat Adventure, and
- the first of our free summer Stream Team volunteer events, which will continue Friday mornings through the end of September at various locations.

Wildlands Conservancy – Party with the Frogs! – 6:00PM – 7:30PM EDT at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, PA 18049. Let’s party with the frogs – for all ages! We’ll take a hike and explore the ponds at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary and search the ponds for frogs and macroinvertebrates. Wildlands Conservancy – Get Your Tail on the Trail! Bike & Boat Adventure – 1:00PM – 3:00PM EDT at Sand Island – River Access Point, 210 River Street, Bethlehem, PA, 18018. Kick off Spring: Peddle 4.5 miles D & L Trail then paddle back on the Leigh River. All equipment is provided including bicycles, helmets, PFD, and tandem canoes. Questions? Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Blue Mountain Lakes – 1:00PM – 4:00PM EDT at Flatbrookville Stillwater Road, Walpack Township, NJ 07851. We’ll hike along the east shore of Lower Blue Mt. Lake, pass a large marsh, to the smaller Hemlock Pond; then circle Hemlock and head back on the west side of Blue Mountain Lakes. Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Galen’s Revenge Trail – 1:00PM – 3:00PM EDT at Sam Miller Athletic Field, 122 North Ave, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229. This hike starts at an athletic field that was the location of the railroad station for the Switchback up Mt Pisgah. Our trail hugs the mountainside as it goes through dense rhododendrons. Join us as historian John Marquette provides a fascinating history about Archibald Johnston Sr., a VP at Bethlehem Steel and the first mayor of the united Cities of Bethlehem & South Bethlehem. What looks like a stone castle was once a coal-burning iron furnace, the beauty of which belies the industrial roots. Wildlands Conservancy – Stream Team 2024: Fry’s Run – Friday, 8:00AM – 12:00PM EDT at Fry’s Run Park, 466-4-466-0 Royal Manor Rd, Williams Township, PA 18042. Join Wildlands Conservancy’s Stream Team effort: Friday mornings, May 31 through September, to help maintain riparian buffer zones (areas planted with native trees, grasses, and shrubs) along creeks and streams in the Lehigh and Northampton Counties. These vital areas improve water quality in local communities, reduce erosion and flooding concerns, and provide habitat for wildlife. Questions?
