Mackenzie Issues Statement on UAW Strike at Mack Trucks

LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP – Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) today issued the following statement regarding the strike by United Auto Workers (UAW) members at the Mack Trucks plant in Lower Macungie.

“Mack Trucks has a great tradition in the Lehigh Valley. I am proud they operate in the district I represent, and I was glad to see the investment they made over the past few years.

“I also respect the hard-working Mack Trucks employees and the members of the UAW – some of whom are part of multi-generational Mack Trucks families. They are friends and important members of our community.

“As Republican chair of the Pennsylvania House Labor and Industry Committee, I am following this situation closely and I am hopeful both sides will be able to reach an agreement that is fair and mutually beneficial in the near future.”

Mackenzie met with union members on the picket line this afternoon and has reached out to the company to speak with them as well.
