The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber Presents:
Whitehall Township Check Presentation & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

August 24th, 2023 | 10:30-11:30 AM | 11 AM Ribbon Cutting & Check Presentation

Join the Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce, proud partners of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, as we present a Legacy Grant Check to Whitehall Township Parks & Recreation on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at 11 AM. The Check Presentation and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place at 11 AM. The grant was awarded in April 2023 for purchase of new basketball nets and backboards for the Wood Street Playground, located at 200 Wood Street, Whitehall, PA. After the check presentation, the Chamber and township will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to debut the new basketball equipment.

Whitehall Township is glad to be re-establishing Wood Street Playground and bringing back basketball to the park. The previous playground hoops were removed due to various designs and construction due to PennDOT with route 22. With the help of the Chamber, we are happy to have basketball back at Wood Street Playground. This is one of the first steps in providing the best recreation to our community.

“It is the belief that of the Whitehall Area Chamber that organizations like Whitehall Township Parks & Recreation enhance the quality of life for those in our area,” said Kylie Adams-Weiss, Assistant Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “As our municipalities and community partners seek to improve their facilities, we know that their progress will not only benefit Whitehall Township, but the area at large.”

The Whitehall Area Chamber Legacy grant is awarded annually and aims to continue the improvement of the Whitehall Area (Whitehall Township and the boroughs of Catasauqua, North Catasauqua and Coplay). The Chamber’s philanthropic committee reviews applications each year and award projects that will fulfill this mission. Other recipients of the 2023 Grant program were North Catasauqua Township’s Recreation Committee; the township will be using their grant funds to replace picnic tables in William J. Albert Memorial Park.

“Preserving open space and historic resources and caring for people and strengthening the bonds of our community are important in creating opportunities for growth and enrichment in the Whitehall Area,” said Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, Executive Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Established in 2017, we’ve seen many iterations of this grant continue to benefit the Whitehall Area and our board of directors looks forward to continuing their philanthropic efforts for years to come.”
