“This is the ultimate celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. This full family celebration will allow attendees to enjoy the many elements that create the hip hop culture.”
Hip-Hop turned 50 years old today. It was a beautiful day in Allentown, PA where people came out for this one-of-a-kind celebration. Not only to celebrate the music but the culture, and being part of something that is beyond iconic. Today was also about the Lehigh Valley’s contribution to the culture, and to Hip-Hop. Granted many iconic artists were not in attendance but they had quite a line-up.
I also spoke with Ello Soto who is the Founder and Director of Do It 4 The Youth. It gives families a sense of financial relief for children to be productive. Ello said, she wants the kids to be safe, and have a great future. They certainly deserve an amazing future. It’s people like Ello Soto, and the people that put this event together. I spoke with Mercedes who had her kids out and was selling clothing, her sister sells custom made sneakers, and more. Her kids are planning to start a Podcast, so be on the lookout for that.
During the event they had food, music, and so much more. The basketball court was busy all day, the Main stage welcomed so many artists. They had a live Graffiti Gate with artists painting, a Youth Field, and a party pavilion- play area. They had an Ultimate Dance Foor in the Jordan Park Parking lot. A break dance showcase. I also met an amazing lady named Eva who makes all of her own soaps, lotions and more. Scented Serenity on Facebook. Lehigh Valley’s Loud Radio was also part of this event. They have been out at Musikfest.
They did an amazing job with this event. Hip Hop is so important to so many of us. The music, the culture, the food, the events. It’s such a vibrant and beautiful part of history.
