Rapid Transit Gains Speed in Lehigh Valley
Allentown, PA (061623) — LANTA will reach its long-time goal Monday (June 19) of offering fifteen-minute service on a major corridor in the Lehigh Valley. With the development of the Authority’s Enhance Bus Service (EBS) in 2020 the Valley enjoyed Rapid Transit Service for the first time. The newly re-designed EBS routes, designated Blue Route and Green Route, will run together through much of Allentown and Bethlehem with buses arriving every fifteen minutes, a first in Lehigh Valley transit history.
The Blue Route runs between Trexlertown and Easton, while the Green Route operates from Whitehall to Bethlehem’s Southside Station. “EBS offers faster commutes with fewer stops and upgraded amenities,” said Executive Director Owen O’Neil. “Future developments in our EBS service will focus on amenities like shelters and real-time information that will further enhance the bus rider experience,” he added.
