HARRISBURG, Jan. 3 – During a noon ceremony today at the state Capitol, Rep. Mike Schlossberg was sworn in to begin his sixth term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“Every New Year brings with it opportunity for us to do better. As we begin the 2023-24 session, I look forward to working with Governor Josh Shapiro and my colleagues to help the people we represent. To serve Parkland and Allentown, I will be focused on ensuring our schools have the resources they need to provide students with a world-class education regardless of where they live, fighting to fix Pennsylvania’s broken mental health care system and working to protect our communities from runaway mega development. We have a lot of work to do on all of these fronts,” Schlossberg said.
To address Pennsylvania’s mental health care crisis, Schlossberg laid out his agenda, “HOPE for PA,” in 2022. This plan would invest $100 million in public safety by creating safe and healthy communities, improve care by addressing provider and capacity shortages and help more people through training, education, and outreach. Shortly after, Gov. Wolf Tom signed the 2022-23 state budget approving an additional $100 million in federal funding to improve mental health care in Pennsylvania. Schlossberg was then appointed to the Behavioral Health Commission on Adult Mental Health, which was tasked with creating a strategy to allocate those funds.
Based on recommendations from the commission, Schlossberg’s first piece of legislation this session will lay out how the $100 million should be spent.
Schlossberg was re-elected Democratic Caucus administrator by his colleagues for the 2023-24 session, and he continues to serve as a co-chair for the House Mental Health Caucus.

The new 132nd Legislative District includes a portion of Allentown, South Whitehall Township and part of Upper Macungie Township.
