November 4, 2015 – We’re excited to announce that Alex Gino, author of George, the first middle-grade novel featuring a transgender protagonist written by a transgender person, will be visiting Let’s Play Books! on November 13 at 4:00 pm for an author discussion and book signing.
George has received 4 starred reviews from media outlets including The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and LAMBDA, as well as a Kirkus star. Gino, a queer and trans activist, has worked to further the LBGTQIA cause for more than 20 years, and works as a tutor and an official We Need Diverse Books team member.
At the end of the event, Albert Eisenberg, a representative from Pennsylvania Competes, will be available to talk about the PA Fairness Act. This act would protect members of the LBGTQIA community from mistreatment in businesses throughout Pennsylvania, the last state in the North East to legally allow discrimination against people of varying sexual orientations and genders.
